ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) ? You thought Barack and Mitt were fierce presidential candidates? Try Ahpun (ah-POON') the polar bear and Denali the wolf.
The Alaska Zoo, in what it acknowledges is shameless promotion and a fundraiser, is conducting a zoo presidential election between the two predators.
For a buck, you can cast a ballot for the sleek, white bruin or the 6-year-old, 100-pound wolf.
And unlike the national campaign, you can vote as often as you want. In fact, zoo development director Eileen Floyd says that's encouraged and money from outside interests is welcome.
The candidates met reporters Wednesday at their respective campaign headquarters.
The zoo election will follow the same timeline as the national race. Ballots for Ahpun and Denali can be cast until 8 p.m. Nov. 6.
